Denver, CO  USA -- 262nd of 8,000+ at Phoenix Marathon in Jan. '06 (time of 3:15)

6th place Auora Cliff 1/2 Ironman - 2004

My triathlon career began in the fall of 1996 when I started my freshman year at the U of M. Jared was just getting into triathlon training after a few years of running marathons, so I thought it would be a good way for us to spend time together. My first swim workout was the the Minnesota Aquatic Center and the pool was set up for long course. This would be the first time I had ever swam a lap and it was with a team, pretty embarrassing, but all the early morning calls from Jared kept me going. (just ask him about our Xmas '03 - 800 IM, when I lapped him). We swam, biked, and ran all year to train for the Pigman Sprint in 1997. It was great, the water was freezing, the bike was short, and the run was perfect. I had a blast and was hooked.

Throughout the years I have spent a great deal of time training in the pool and on the concrete. I like to think of myself as a strong swimmer and biker, but a survivor on the run.

Now I am making my transition to the career world while still riding the mountains in Colorado with my wife, running the trails with Cooper (our dog), and sleeping instead of going to the 5:15 am swim workouts.

Don't count me out...
