IM Wisconsin, more Ironmans, Best of the US and more!

We had 9 out of 9 finishers at another extreme IM Wisconsin.  4 first timers and 4 veterans with 3 achieving Ironman Personal Bests!  Maggie Fourier finished 18th overall and 2nd in her age-group qualifying her for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships – way to go Maggie!

Congratulations you’re an Ironman:

            Jeff Fleig

            Maggie Fourier

            Wally Milbrath

Ironman competition is getting fierce out there especially in the 40-44 age-group.  For example,  Eric Srodulski went 10:49 at Iromnan Lake Placid and Peter Scharer hit a 10:19 at Ironman Switzerland and were both around 40th in there age-group.  Great races guys!

Both Cathy Yndestad and John Dalrymple out raced the competition to qualify for the Best of the US in Minnetonka, MN.  John rivaled his competition in his qualifying race by over 2minutes and went on to finish in the top ½ of the field at the Best of the US race.  Cathy had an outstanding Best of the US race; placing 6th overall against an outstanding field!

Both Andy Feeney and Cathy Yndestad finished 2nd overall amateurs at the Xterra Midwest Championships.  …Andy will be racing Xterra Nationals in Tahoe and Cathy is on to Worlds in Maui.

On the west coast Devin Kelly finished 8th overall in his last tri of the season.  Kevin Herbert has continually winning amateur and overall tittles in California.  Josh Shadle finished 3rd in his age-group at nationals, 1st in age-group at 5430 ½ and holds the 20-24 title for the entire three race 5430 series.   (Josh – just graduated from massage school this week and will be open for business starting next week.  TriEndurance athletes get a discount – so those living in or visiting CO will have to take advantage!  …no worries for those living in MN; Becca Hatch is there to massage out your beat up muscles!)

After a season of Aquabike competitions John Sugar demonstrated great courage and strength while finishing his first Olympic Distance Triathlon with a hip replacement he received last August.

A quick note on my racing:  I had a solid 12th place finish at Boulder Peak against a very competitive field of athletes including 5 Ironman superstars, 3 world champions, and many US and Australian National team members.  It was fun to mix it up on the swim and bike but my run has a little way to go.  A week later I fell on a trail run and cracked a rib which made my 5430 tri 10days later very painful and slow.  I build back up to run with my 10person Colorado Relay  team – we finished in first place by over 1 and ½ hours.  It was really fun!  I am currently preparing for Xterra National Championships in Lake Tahoe and Xterra Worlds in Maui.

P.S. For all of you who know my son Brent – he almost broke 20minutes in his first Cross Country race ever!  He is working very hard and believe me when I say, “I am running scared!”

I know there is much I missed but please know that I am extremely excited about all of your accomplishments!
